I’m married to a Thai national and have been renewing my Non O for 3 years now every year. Is it possible just to extend my visa in country? Also I work all over and am only in Thailand no more than 1 month at a time and have outside income. Just wondering what the options were as a married couple..Also have a Thai bank account.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of extending a Non-O visa for a foreigner married to a Thai national, who frequently travels and spends limited time in Thailand. Community members highlighted that visa extensions must be applied for within the last 30 days of the stay, with necessary documentation, including proof of finances, such as a minimum of 400,000 THB in a bank account or consistent monthly income. Also noted was the potential convenience of obtaining a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa instead, which may better align with the individual's travel schedule. Additionally, the importance of being present in Thailand for the in-home visit required for the extension was emphasized.

Okay, sounds like you haven't been renewing anything :O

BUT sounds like you've been getting a brand NEW year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa from a thai consulate in another country.

I honestly don't think you're in country long enough to manage to get thru the yearly extension process. Once you apply you get a 30 day under consideration stamp AND during that 30 days then come to your house to do an in home visit then you go back on that date and get the extension inked in. you HAVE to be in country for the in home visit AND have to be back here on the date your 30 day under consideration stamp comes up when you go in for the extension to be inked in.

Another thing is meeting the proof of funds by using monthly income (If you are from the US, UK, Australia or Denmark) you would need to transfer into the country in a thai bank account in your name only a minimum of 40K baht a month for the previous 12 months before you apply for your yearly extension.

I would say the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa is actually the perfect 'fit' for your work/travel restrictions right now. There's no down side in getting them for many many years.

come on now... 500K for a 5 year visa vs. 45K for 5 Non O M visas over 5 years.. If I spent money like that I would have none.I leave the country enough to sort out a visa..

If money is not an issue get the 5 or 20 year thai elite visa.

That sells for 500K baht for a 5 year one and a million baht for a 20 year one. That'd give you preferred treatment flying in and out of the country and might actually be a better fit overall.

No special visa for people who are Non Immigrant, if you like to stay long time and lose the title Non, the options are the Permanent Residency or Thai Citizenship, but that is a different ball game compared to Thai visa.

there ARE year long visa extensions for people who legally work here, are over 50, married to thais, raising half thai children.

Don't over estimate the actual contribution you (and other long stay foreigners, myself included actually make to the country) :O

We are a super small number compared to the number of tourists that come here in a month.

Good Luck

yes the money isn’t an issue. I only live here no other business in Thailand. Rent my house And have my US. Wage deposited into my Thai account. Just can’t believe that there isn’t a special visa for people like me that just live here and put money into the Thai economy. Just looking for easier options but guessing there is none just keep doing what I’m doing.. Thanks for the help. Been here for almost 20 years now. But with the way things keep changing who knows

You can apply during the the last 30 days of your Admitted to Stay period for an Extension of Stay at your local Immigration Office. Next to marriage certificate, copies ID's passports, house book, pictures you need as financial requirement or at least 2 months a minimum of 400.000 Thb on a Thai bank account in your name prior the application date OR an income affidavit from your Embassy with a minimum monthly income of 40.000 Thb from abroad, OR if your embassy does not provide this affidavit, minimum 12 months of foreign deposits of minimum 40.000 Thb a month into a Thai bank account in your name.
