Hello! My visa is a piggy back (non-o) to my husband's non-b visa which expires Dec 30. However, I got a new passport and when I transfered my visa to my new passport, immigration told me that my visa expires with my old passport (Nov 2).
They told me to come back before Nov 2. They didn't give me anymore information and now I am still waiting on my lawyer.
My question is; can I simply go by myself and get an extension to match my husband's visa expiration date? Or do I need to reapply for a visa (with all the paperwork) again before Nov 2 (which means my husband would need to apply too)? Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their NON-O visa, which is linked to their husband's visa, after facing issues with transferring the visa to a new passport. Immigration officials informed them that the visa expires along with the old passport, prompting them to wonder if they can extend their visa independently or need to reapply before the old passport's expiration date.

BEFORE when you had a passport running out before the year extension did they would just give you the year even though the passport ran out, THEN they switched to issuing the extension until the passport expired and you could go in with the new passport and get the rest of the extension, THEN they finally went to giving you only until the passport runs out, and when you get the new passport you go in and get a whole new year extension.
Good Luck I think you know what you have to do now (y)
Tod Daniels I thought this was the case! That's why I was so confused. But as we know, it's always changing :) Yes, I know what to do now...I just didn't understand how I am suppose to get a year extension without my husband doing it too, since I am piggy backing on his. But, I'll go and ask for the required paperwork now that I know what needs to be done. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure that if you take a look into your old passport you will see a stamp with in the second line Extension of Stay permitted up to 2 Nov 2019, the last day of validity of your passport. Without a valid passport you can not get permission to stay in this country.
you need documents to meet the requirements, go visit them first, ask if for both at same time is possible and ask the hand out with requirements for both of you. make the copies and when done go and apply
Officially you are correct, you need to go now, get until 30 Dec and before that go again to get both a new 1 year. Sometime Immigration Officers are lenient, that is why I said bring both passport and ask if possible to do both at the same time. The company documents is not months work to copy them, not even weeks or multiple days. It is just doing it .
I guess you husband has also an Extension of Stay, a stamp similar as you but with a date less than 2 months from today. Seeing you use the Immigration Office in Chang Mai, who allows to apply for a new Extension of Stay between 45 days and the last day of permitted to stay date, I would say take both passport, visit the Immigration get the hand outs for both Extensions of Stay, make an appointment to do both at the same time and you both get a new 1 year of stay.
mistakes are made, after all even Immigration Officers are human beings and as it is your passport your should have checked the dates and told them there is a mistake.
Show us the picture of the validity date of your old passport and the Extension of Stay in that passport until Dec30, without personal details. They said and They told, sometimes live is easy, it is all stamped in your passport. Use the information inside that booklet.
I understand what you're saying. In my old passport, it was stamped: permitted up until Dec 30. It must have been a mistake on their part originally, because when I went to transfer my visa to my new passport, they told me that my visa is only permitted until Nov 2 (my old passport expiration).
That being said... do I start the whole process over or can I extend my visa until the date my husband's visa expires (Dec 30)?... Thanks Robert!
It was when I transferred my visa to my new passport that they gave me a new stamp stating that my visa expires on Nov 2 (with my old passport). It's confusing. It was at Chiang Mai immigration
