Hello everyone! I need your advice, please. My husband is quitting his job and his extension based on employment will be expiring on the 31st of December. Do you think it is possible to apply for a NON-O visa based on our marriage (or get a new extension of stay based on our marriage) without leaving Thailand? Or any other suggestions at all?

(Originally, we planned to go back to the UK and obtain a NON-O based on our marriage from there, but since the UK and lots more countries are tightening their borders now, we are in limbo and afraid that travel rules will suddenly change again, and we might not be able to come back to Thailand in time or we may end up quarantining in the hotel again).

Any advice would be much appreciate. Thanks!

Sorry but there is a slight difference. His Extension of Stay based on employment ends on the day his employment ends. He has to cancel this Extension of Stay and apply directly for a new Extension of Stay but he must meet the requirements.

If you are a Thai National and he meet the other requirements he can directly apply for a new Extension of Stay based on being married with a Thai Nationa.

It is his passport he has to take care. I can not work with I think the employer will do.

He needs to cancel his Extension of Stay in his passport and apply for a new Extension.

I think the school will go to immigration on the 7th of December to state that his Extension of Stay based on Employment will be terminated on the 31st December.

We actually have all the documents ready, but the bank statement will display as having the 400k balance for 2 months by 21st December

Do you have any idea when is the latest he can apply for the Extension of Stay based on Marriage? Thank you very much!

If his final "working day" is December 31, you can get a one year extension of stay based on marriage on December 21 (when the two months is seasoned).

If you need extra time, he can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 OR a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family.

the last day he can apply for an extension based on marriage is the last day of his current extension expires. If he re-stamp until 31 Dec, he can apply for an extension on or before 31 Dec
