TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether they need to visit immigration to apply for a 60-day extension on their Non-Immigrant 'O' visa, which expired in February. They currently hold a 90-day permission to stay until April 30. Responses suggest that it is advisable to apply for the extension to ensure legal status, as there may be uncertainties regarding automatic extensions.

And why would you want to be caught in that herd of foreigners who have taken that "free to stay until the 30th" stamp versus getting a 60 day visit thai family stamp that takes you into the end of JUNE before you have to worry about leaving to get a new visa?

It might be or it don't. I'm a very bad fortune teller.

If you like to stay in control and legal you can apply for the 60 day Extension of Stay, it will cost 1.900 Thb.

Or just wait and see what the announcements are for the near future

There are no automatic stamps.

What happens is that at the moment everybody with an end date on or later than 26 March 2020 can read that date as 30 April 2020 and will not be charged for overstay during this period.

And they still need to find a way to leave the country as their stay came to an end.
