I have a non o multi visa.

Its going to expire soon after 15 month.

(I am on my last entry after the date stamped on the actual visa)

I want to change to a normal single non o

, do I need to go to Laos and apply or can I just extend it with all the paper work at immigration (nonthaburi).?

Thanks for reading.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Non-O multi-entry visa expiring after 15 months and wants to know if they can switch to a standard single Non-O visa by extending it at an immigration office in Thailand, or if they must travel to Laos to apply for a new visa. Responses indicate that they can apply for a one-year extension based on marriage to a Thai national directly at immigration if they have sufficient time remaining on their current visa. It's advisable to go to the immigration office with the necessary documents.

, There is no "normal single O" visa :/

you already HAVE a Non-O visa, and you have two choices when this one runs out.

Go to a thai consulate in another country and get a new year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa

OR

Go to the immigration office when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp and apply for a yearly extension from the immigration office.

You apply, it goes under consideration for 30 days, the immigration officers might come for an in home visit, and then you go back and get the year extension stamped into your passport.

At least as a foreign woman married to a thai you don't show proof of 400K baht in funds, (y)

Good Luck

And, if you don’t have enough time left on your permitted stay, I believe you can extend that stay at your immigration office.

The best thing to do would be to pay them a visit, with your husband, explain to them that you would like a year extension based on marriage to a Thai national and they will explain exactly what you need to do.

You can apply from 30 days before till the last day of the date mentioned in the square stamp after the text Admitted Until in your passport. By going early you don't lose days as the Extension of Stay is added to your current stay and it gives you time to prepare documents if you missed one.

So I must apply 30 days before the stamp runs out... Or the visa?

You must have a Non Immigrant O visa, if this is a single or multiple entry does not matter. You can apply 30 days before your last day of Admitted to Stay for a 1 year Extension of Stay at your local Immigration Office.

I'm married to a Thai. But I was thinking that since its a multi I might have to get the visa again then extend it.

Anyone have any experience doing this

Then you should just go to immigration. Make sure you have all your documents together and it shouldn’t be a problem. You just have to submit them and then come pick up your result 30 days later.

Tracey, when I changed mine I didn’t have to leave the country. I just applied for the extension at immigration. I did have to have 30 days left on my visa though.

Than you should be able to apply for an 1 year Extension of Stay if based on marriage with Thai National or for an Extension of Stay as dependant to match your husbands Extension of Stay if he is foreigner.
