TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is currently holding a Non-Immigrant O visa, married to a Thai citizen, and is in Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ). They are inquiring about the possibility of applying for a marriage visa in Thailand in December without having to travel to Laos. There is guidance indicating that if they meet certain requirements, they can apply for a one-year extension based on marriage to a Thai national. Key documents required include proof of income, legal marriage certification, and potentially a family visit extension if time is tight.

If in a time bind you can apply for a 60 days family visit extension at end of your current Non O Married to Thai visa...

If you meet the requirements, you can go and apply for a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. Ask your immigration office for the time frame, some let you apply 30 days in advance, and others require 45 days in advance.

Different immigration offices have different requirements. However, ALL immigration offices will require the following:

1. For the marriage to be legal, with the rose border certificate (if you got married in Thailand).

2. Proof of income/ savings. This is either:

a. 40K THB in monthly income OR;

b. 400K THB in a Thai bank account seasoned for two months (NOT 60 days) Or;

c. A letter from your embassy saying you make 40K THB a month (note: the American embassy is no longer issuing this letter).

For the other documents, you'll have to ask your local immigration office.

not to hijack the post, just wanted a quick clarification, and this may be semantics...when you say, "400k in a Thai bank account seasoned for 2 months (not 60 days)"...I've just gotten the 60 day family visit extension last week, effective from the end of amnesty on the 26th giving me a hard stamp to Nov 25th. I've always heard that it's 60 days/put the money in on or before the day you get the extension and you'll be fine.

My 60 day extension is from Sept 26-Nov 25th, I moved the money into my account on the 23rd Sept. Is this gonna give me a problem applying for a 1 year extension come November 25th because it hasn't been 2 calendar months? I thought it would be fine if the money was in there before my 60 day extension went into effect.

There is no banked money requirements or income requirements for a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family.

yes, I am on the 60 day extension now, effective Sept 26-Nov 25. Banked the money on Sept 23. Thought that put me in the clear to apply for a 1 year extension at the end of the 60 day extension...you saying "2 months, NOT 60 days", has me raising my eyebrows.

Two months after September 23 would be November 23, and your extension of stay expires on November 25. You'll be fine.

ahh, so they don't take into account the number of days in the month is what you mean, then? I get it, thanks.
