Hello, when my education visa finishes in late February, is it possible, if the Covid extension is not extended, to get an extension based on visiting Thai family instead? This would give the 40k baht that I deposited last week time to season. Yes, I am married to a Thai lady. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the possibility of extending their education visa by switching to a family visit visa based on their marriage to a Thai citizen, in case the COVID-19 extension is not available. Comments suggest that if the user deposited ฿400,000 for a long-term stay, they could apply for a 60-day family visa extension at an immigration office, provided they cancel their existing education visa in time.

Hopefully, when you typed 40k baht, that was a typo?

You need ฿400,000 for a year long extension of stay based on being married to a Thai if you’re using the banked money method.

You should be able to get paperwork from your school saying your last day is the day your extension runs out, GO to the immigration office a week or so before that, have them cancel your ED extension and then immediately apply for a 60 day visit thai family extension for 1900baht

Did you deposit 400,000 Thai baht ?

If you did...then if married to Thai...get the 60 day family visit extension. Its only available once per entry.

What is your current permission to stay end date ?
