Hello. Is it possible to be in Thailand only on single entry visa and before it expires, extend one more month, after that go to Laos and make a new single entry visa and stay another three months. I'm asking that because if I do multiple entry visa, I need 5000 euro in my bank account. I am Croatian citizen, btw.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can extend a single entry tourist visa for an additional 30 days in Thailand. After this extension, you can travel to Laos, apply for a new single entry tourist visa at a Thai consulate, and potentially extend that visa as well. However, be aware that some consulates may scrutinize frequent visa applications, so having proof of funds and proper documentation is advisable.

Shouldn't be a problem getting a single entry tourist visa, extending it for 30 days, going to a thai consulate getting a new single entry tourist visa and extending that for 30 days too,

I mean you're not gonna be able to live here forever on that plan but you can get 4 or 5 tourist visas before you start getting the warning stamps from the consulates.

Yes so you get a hotel for a night and then extend. ;)

@Michael *******
For example, in Bangkok, you cannot extend your stay with the address out of Bangkok.

@Ellie ******
Unless you go to an office that does not require the TM30 process which is most of the offices in Thailand.

@Michael *******
I know. technically you need to go to the local immigration office in the province where you stay. you just use that address when you go to the different immigration office. Anyway you cannot use different immigration office from the address you want to use to extend.

Somone else will have to answer for Korat. I would assume it is not needed though.
Michael ********
Ellie Takei You can extend for 30 days in any province except for the ones that have offices that require TM30 as that needs to show you are living or staying in that province. What would people do while on holiday if they could only extend in one location.
Ellie *******
You need to go to the immigration office serving the province you are staying. cannot pick up randomly.

Idk, does Korat has one or would i have to go to BKK?
Michael ********
I meant where will you be extending for 30 days. Some immigration offices require the TM30 process to be completed. I think Pattaya and Phuket are the main ones

Working is prohibited on tourist visa (legally). Any advice on that?
Robert *******
For the Single Entry Tourist Visa it is 20.000 Thb on a bank account, you could also be asked to show 20.000 Thb in cash on entry. If that gets tricky it is time to find a cheaper place to live or to start work and gain income.

oh, ok. Good to know. Thanks.

Please delete this very old and incorrect information.

There are no ATM's between the gate and Immigration. It does not matter if you don't like to carry cash, you can withdraw or you have millions in your bank. This is a Thai law and could be asked, when asked you show and enter Thailand, when you not show the cash you will be on a flight out. The choice is yours.

Sounds like the rule of thumb is, if it’s your first tourist VISA, chances of being asked for these “funds” are slim to none. But if you’re on your 6th back-to-back tourist VISA then don’t be surprised if you are asked.

@Robert ******
that was directed to Niko, sorry mate

They also didn't asked me to show them. And i had 350€ cash, but wjy carry so much cash anyway. I withdraw the money when I need from my bank acc.

@Tyson *******
That is what I wrote down. I'm up to date.
Tyson ********
@Nikolina ******
well you should read something more recent and up to date lol. I came with my family and it was 40k or equ, although we were never asked to show it.
Robert *******
Enter with Visa 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency a person or 40.000 Thb or equivalent currency if family.
Robert *******
Everybody is asked at the borders with Malaysia. Use the search button to find reports of those who are asked at the BKK airports and to inform you correctly this pictures is of a sign at a border crossing:

@Tyson *******
and as far as I know. its 10K for single person , and 20K for family.

Anyways...
Tyson ********
Nikolina Lisko they didn’t ask me either, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen
Tyson ********
@Nikolina ******
“or equivalent” 🤔 read much?
Nikolina *******
@Tyson *******
and how am I supposed to have 20K baht when I only arrived with plane. Hmmm? 🤔
Nikolina *******
@Robert ******
Its not like I've never been. Been there this year few months ago. No one asked anything. If you have 60days tourist visa. I showed that all obviously in embassy already while making visa. they only sometimes ask for exit flight
Tyson ********
Nikolina Lisko they could ask, good idea to have 20k baht or equivalent on hand upon entry to the Kingdom as its highly recommended
Robert *******
Nikolina Lisko You could be asked on entry to show 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency, proof of accommodation and onward travel. Be prepared is all I can advice. If you say they don't, do not be surprised when it happens.
Nikolina *******
@Robert ******
single entry. they dont ask to show cash

I would stay at my girfriends parent house. Now the funds part gets tricky... :D
Robert *******
Every Thai Consulate or Embassy is very good. But some of them require proof of funds, accommodation and onward travel. If you have all three than it should be no problem.

Then maybe first time I go to Vientiane and second time to Savannakhet? Which embassy is better btw?
Nikolina *******
Robert *******
There is no official limit on how many Single Entry Tourist Visa you can have in your passport. You can buy this visa at any Thai Consulate or Embassy but in this region the staff count the amounts of Tourist visa inside your passport and can decide that it seems you live in Thailand and deny you to apply for a new Tourist Visa.

How long can I do that? And the place of issue isn't important? I mean you can get thai visa anywhere, not just in your country?
Robert *******
Yes you can do by using the Single Entry Tourist Visa.
