TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian inquiring about extending a two-month tourist visa in Thailand can indeed extend their 60-day tourist visa by an additional 30 days at a local immigration office for a fee of 1,900 baht. This means they do not necessarily need to leave the country to obtain a longer visa, although traveling to another country like Laos to obtain a new visa is also a possibility.

After you have been in Thailand 30 days of your 60 day tourist visa you can then apply for a 30 day extension giving you 90 days total

You can get a ~~two month~~ [Edit: 60 day] tourist visa, and extend it for a month at your local immigration office
