Sorry if this becomes a bit long winded. I just need a sanity check.
I came in on a 90 day non o (marriage) which I then got yearly extensions off of. I am on my 4th consecutive extension now, which expires 31 October.
Atm I am doing a BA in Bangkok, but I am living in Buengkan (north east Thailand). I am using Buengkan immigration for everything, as that's where my home address is.
So my issue is that application for yearly extension falls inside of school term.
To avoid problems I wanted my next application to be for a 60 day visit family extension, to move my yearly extension date to 31 December. That would be ideal, right between terms.
Asked about that in immigration, and they just said no.. Not possible. Have to do same same always.. Only one year extension.
Shouldn't I be able to use the 60 day visit family? I havent ever used that before.
I know that no matter what the rules are, it's down to the discretion of the buengkan office. Just want to know if I am wrong in thinking I could do that.
On a side note, I do have everything ready for application for yearly extension by 31 October, money seasoned and all, so that is not the issue.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The author is concerned about their upcoming 90-day non-O visa (marriage) extension expiry and whether they can apply for a 60-day family visit extension instead of the annual extension, which conflicts with their school schedule. Although the local immigration office has indicated that only a yearly extension is allowed, there is uncertainty about the applicability of the 60-day extension as it hasn't been utilized before. A comment suggests pushing for a supervisor's assistance as there are no explicit rules preventing the use of the 60-day family visit extension if not previously applied.
