I have a non-inmigrant O-A VISA based on retirement, issued 16 Aug 17. Date enter before 15 Aug 18. As far as I know, if I leave the country and I re-enter 14 Aug 18 I will be authorised to extend my stay one year more ((until 13 Aug 19).
Can I apply for a one -year extension of the VISA in that year(for exemple July 19) or must I apply for that extension before my first year stay here will be finished?
Thanks for the help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the timeline for applying for an extension on their Non-Immigrant O-A retirement visa, specifically if they can file for a one-year extension after the first year of stay has almost concluded. Responses clarify that the extension can be applied for before the initial one-year period ends, and it is advised to apply around July/August 2019. Additionally, it is important to note that a re-entry permit will be necessary if leaving the country after receiving the extension.

if the dates you quoted are correct (and you exit/re-enter just prior to your "enter before" date on the visa itself) you wouldn't need to apply for a yearly extension until July/August 2019.
