OK I have a question.
I'm here on a Non-O 90 day Visa (based on retiring here).
My 90 days ends on July 31st (Single entry)
I know that I can go to the Local Immigration office with the proper documents, and request a one yer extension (and pay extra for multiple entry)
I want to go to Japan in Early July for about a week.
but don't want to risk cancelling my option for the extension.
1. Can I go to Immigration as early as the 25th of June, to process the extension application?
2. Should I go a full two weeks prior to my desired date to leave the country for a week?
3. is there a 3rd option? where I can get a re-entry permit (after a week) without cancelling out completely the single entry Visa?
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on applying for a one-year extension of their Non-O visa, which expires on July 31. They ask if they can apply as early as June 25 and whether they should allow two weeks before their planned trip to Japan in early July. Comments from others suggest that in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, applying for an extension is permissible when less than 45 days remain. However, other offices may have stricter rules, typically allowing applications only within 30 to 15 days prior. It is also noted that the extension does not impact their travel plans if a re-entry permit is obtained.
