US passport holder, recently converted my visa exempt to a Non-O based on being old at the Udon Thani IO. It’s single entry and expires 25 May. I’d like to covert to a one-year extension of stay (hopefully that’s the correct terminology) multiple entry. I do have 800k in a local bank and it’s been there long past any seasoning requirements. Is this possible and how long might it take? I’ll be leaving mid-May to the US to take care of things that seem to always pop up when I’m away so depending on time delay before I can apply, or time to complete the application/waiting process, this may not be an option for me. Anyone with recent experience or guidance? Thanks.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A US passport holder, currently on a single-entry Non-O visa set to expire on May 25, inquires about converting this visa into a one-year extension of stay with multiple entries. They mention having sufficient funds in a local bank to meet the financial requirements. A comment suggests that the application for a yearly extension can be done when there are 30 days or less remaining on the visa, which would mean they can apply after April 25, but they must consider their trip to the US and the timing involved.
