Hi all, I am wanting to apply for my toddler for a dependant DTV from Australia. However what document would I provide for indicate the current location- she is not on any of our bills 🧐 Also she doesn’t have her own bank account - does she need one?

Also, do I need to have my DTV first before I apply for hers? I am a little confused. Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a dependant DTV for your toddler, you first need to obtain your own DTV visa. Then, your child can apply using your DTV approval number. Required documents include her Australian passport and some proof of your current location, even if she's not on utility bills. A brief cover letter can also help clarify her application. It’s worth noting that while getting a DTV for your child is advisable, they do not incur overstay penalties as long as they are traveling with a parent or guardian who has a valid visa.

FWIW you don’t really need a DTV for your child. There is no overstay penalty for children. They do get an overstay stamp in their passport but it’s not held against them as long as they are traveling with a parent/guardian who has a visa or eligible for the waiver.

You apply and get approved first, then she applies using your DTV visa number/approval for dependant reference. Use her Aus passport and some documentation of your current location and attest to such as well as attest to provide sponsorship for the child. Just write a brief cover letter for her application.
