Proof of funds for METV

A friend of mine who doesn’t use Facebook is planning on getting a metv from the states in the next couple of months. One of the requirements is a “copy of bank statement for the last 6 months with minimum balance of $7,000 (every months).”

My friend is wondering if it would work if they were *now added to someone’s account that has had the balance requirement?

Okay, I am getting ready to move to Thailand to teach. I guess I will be going there on a tourist visa first for 90 days?

My question is this:

Do I really have to buy a round trip ticket? Is there anyway around it?
