Hi - I am currently employed in Thailand, am changing jobs and my current permit to stay (VISA) will be cancelled on 30th Jan (last working day) and WP will be cancelled on 31st Jan (after last working day).

Normally - I’d be required to go back to my home country and apply for a non immigrant B visa and return to thailand for WP and extension of stay process.

Is there any (Legal) way of not leaving thailand and securing a non B visa?

Have kids going to school here, so want to avoid disruption to their routine if possible.

Suggestions / Advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat in Thailand is facing the cancellation of their current visa and work permit due to a job change and is seeking advice on how to obtain a non-immigrant B visa without leaving the country. Comments indicate that if the family’s visas are linked, they will also need to leave. Suggestions include exploring educational visas or confirming the status of other family members' visas.

Have you thought about enrolling yourself in a Master's Degree program with a Thai university? There are some which offer Master's degrees on weekend study classes for two years...in Education. Just a thought.

Obtain Ed Visa. Then seek employment with NonB when all sorted out.

Good Luck.

He is working, why should he go for a visa that is Employment Prohibited?

There is no way to stay in Thailand. Sadly as you stated you must return to India and make new visa application there.

any other options? I do not know of any for him

if you wife and kids all have Extensions of Stay linked to yours, then all have to be cancelled and all have to leave the country.

So to give correct and helpful advice we need to know more to make sure you do not disrupt the rest of the family.

What kind of visa or Extension is used by your wife?

@Robert ******
my wife and kids are here in BANGKOK with me and their extension of stay is linked to mine. Hope this answers your question. Thanks.

by reading your visa or Extension of Stay will be cancelled at 30th Jan and the Work Permit on 31st of Jan, I can conclude that it is all done by other people. The complete family is India and you do not want to disrupt their daily routine, but in case of their visa or stay are depending on your Extension of Stay, then all their stays also need to be cancelled and all need to leave the country at last on 30th Jan.
