Good morning, I could really need some advice now.

Currently my situation is, I am a Malaysian with Malaysia passport and have a non-B visa without extension, admitted to stay until 2nd of May 2020 with Company A.

There's a Company B have agreed with company A to buy me over, which means I need to cancel my work permit(does not required to cancel non-B because it's not extension, correct?) and leave Thailand on last day of my working day with Company A and apply new work visa and work permit with Company B.

However, due to current Covid-19 situation in Thailand (ridiculous requirement to get in) and Malaysia(border close for Malaysia nasionality to get out from country until end of this month, might extend),

Is there anyway that I can stay in Thailand and get new non-B visa. I know I can convert from tourist visa to non-B visa. But how about non-B to tourist visa?

Appreciate for any advice. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Malaysian expat holding a Non-B visa is seeking advice on remaining in Thailand to apply for a new Non-B visa after a job transfer due to the Covid-19 situation. The current employer is transitioning the expat to a new company, but travel restrictions prevent leaving the country. The expat inquires about the process of converting a Non-B visa to a tourist visa and any possible ways to extend their stay during this period.

Check with the Malaysian Embassy or Consulate if they are willing to give you a covid extension letter that will give you up to 30 days to figure things out. You won't be able to work on that extension though. My Australian consulate decided two days ago to help long term expats with these letters too (including Non-imm b) :)

You ask your old employer, your new employer, the Ministry of Labor and the Immigration office to sit together and work this out.

And please calm down, your opinion about precautions to save peoples life is not of anybodies interest.

Agreed! You will need to be proactive and get your new employer to push to allow application INSIDE of Thailand. There are plenty of people in your situation. The more noise we make, the quicker an exemption will happen.
