TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on transitioning from a Non-O visa to a Non-B visa while living in Thailand and planning to travel to the US. Community members discussed the usual requirement to leave Thailand to obtain a Non-B visa and the possibility of changing the reason for an extension of stay without leaving the country. The user plans to apply at the LA consulate while in the US, with a backup plan to apply in Singapore if needed. They also shared their previous experience with both visa types.

1. Apply online at LA consulate in US while in Colorado this summer (with supporting documents from my future employer)
If that doesn’t work…
2. Come back to Thailand in August for work (my non-o will have expired then) arriving on a tourist visa, and then going to Singapore (where my gf lives) and applying again at the Thai consulate there
Thoughts? Might this work?
My employer doesn’t have any recommendations and I’m a little hesitant to use an agent as it seems this should be possible without one.
I worked in Thailand with a non-B and work permit 2017-2021 and then transitioned to a non-o guardian (without leaving the country) for 2021-2023. I’ve been offered a job and need to switch back to a non-B with work permit.
Surely, someone has done this, right? Parents get offered jobs and have to switch visas. 🙏👩👧👧🇹🇭
I have a friend who just did that with the help of the agency. The point is do you work in Thailand? If you would like to change to non-B.

If you're on the extention of stay you might be able to change the reason for the extention without needing to leave the Country and apply for a non Imm B. I know it can be done the other way around non imm B to non imm O, ie extention for business/work to extention for retirement.

Normally you have to leave Thailand with your required documentation to get your Non-B outside so you don't transition
However, it seems Thai consulate in US can’t help bc I’ve been living in Thailand, not in US.
Has anyone done this before? Can any Thai Embassy in US or other country help me apply for Non-B when I currently have Non-O and have been living in Thailand since 2017?
why would the Thai consulate in the US help? Unless you're going to be applying while physically in the US they have nothing to do with it. Go to Laos and apply from the consulate there. Your job should tell you where to go as they should be familiar with the paperwork from their consulate of choice.
