I'm confused. Getting different info from my new school, someone at immigration and something I remember reading here.

I'm on an extension of stay from my current school. My new school is saying have my current school cancel my WP and EOS and that I have until July 31st and then I'll need to leave the country (with the other new teachers that are here on visa exempt stamps to get a new non B. (someone at immigration said similar)

Initially they said I could get my visa done (amended, transferred?) here in country like I vaguely remember reading something about here.

What's the real story?

Have things changed due to Covid19 or am I breathing too many motorbike exhaust fumes?

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about the procedure for transitioning from one school to another while on an Extension of Stay in Thailand. Their current school advises canceling the Work Permit and Extension of Stay, stating they need to leave the country to obtain a new Non-B Visa. However, they find conflicting information regarding whether they can amend their visa within the country, especially in light of Covid-19. Comments suggest that the standard procedure requires leaving the country to apply for a new visa after cancelling the existing permits.

Since this thread is getting hijacked, I'm closing comments. You got good advice from Robert. Good luck.

Your Extension of Stay is applied for with lots of documents from your employer, you can not use this for working at a new employer.

normal procedure, YOU cancel your work permit and cancel YOUR Extension of Stay. Then you leave to country to apply for a new Non Immigrant B visa.
