What are my options for extending my visa if my contract ends soon and I want to change schools in Thailand?

My contract will end on 30th of November. The non-B extension, same. If I go to another school, there is not enough time to do all the papers and the same visa cannot be extended in the country, since I want to change the school. What can be done in this situation? How can I extend the visa here? I have a Romanian passport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on extending their Non-B visa after their contract ends on November 30th, while wishing to change schools. They are concerned about the limited time available for paperwork. Community responses suggest visiting immigration as soon as possible, highlighting the requirement of 15 days remaining on the current visa for a transfer. It is noted that one can potentially cancel the existing extension and apply for a new one on the same day, provided all parties are cooperative.

Assuming all else being equal, and the immigration offices and present and future employer is willing to work with you, you can cancel your existing extension of stay based on employment, and then get a new extension of stay based on employment at the same time, on the same day. However, a teacher can only have a certain number of temporary teaching licenses before they are forced to get a real teaching license to teach.

One needs 15 days left on the current extension to get it transferred to another from another employer. You clearly have 15 days. If you can get the paperwork and a job in that time.

No, you don't. You can get it transferred the same day (assuming the immigration offices are willing to work with you, and the current and future employer is cooperative).

Yup. But CW “advices” 15 days. They did so to me.

They tried this with someone else, it cannot be done. At least here.

Eduard Cosmin Ung Do you have a permanent 5 year teacher license? If not it cant be done cause the provisonal one takes a month to be issued.

I do not. I have a temporary teaching license. And a new one must be done before working in another school. Am I correct?

yes and there is clearly no time for that. You should find other venues rather than getting it extended based on a job.

I do not have any documents. I found another school, but the visa cannot be extended. I need a new visa, as the school told me. Even if I can extend this visa, there is not enough time, because there are many things that needed to be done before an extension. And the extension can be done only in the same day when the current contract expires, which is risky.

You do not need a new visa. Your new school needs to get the letter of approval from the previous school allowing you to switch the extension of stay. They clearly don't know the process/ Lazy/ Do not have the means/ Or they are in a different province. Also, an extension can only be done any day before it expires not on the last day provided there is 15 days remaining on it. I don't know what stories they are telling you.

I dunno what immigration you went to, but if you have all documents ready to go, Chaengwattana allows it in 15 days.

Visit immigrarion ASAP and ask them what your options are?

Likely will need to apply for an extension...

possibly up to 60 days...

At discretion of Thai Immigration.

Good Luck 😊
