When submitting documents for the non o retirement visa in your home country ( UK )

Specifically the latest 3 months bank statement's

For example may , june and July

Would you be denied said visa if May statement shows the balance of £2500

June's statement shows the balance of £2500

And July's statement shows the balance of £300,000 ( increase due to proceeds from uk house sale ). Any thoughts on this would be invaluable
Answer summary
The community discusses the financial requirements for obtaining a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand. Current rules suggest that applicants must demonstrate they have sufficient funds, either through bank statements showing a consistent balance or by proving a monthly income. While the required balance in a bank account may vary (often cited as around £18,000), it can be flexible as long as the final balance on submitted statements meets or exceeds the minimum requirements. Therefore, showing a significant increase in balance, even if earlier statements show lower amounts, often does not lead to denial of the visa.

I think he is talking about his 90 day non o retirement application in the UK, I had to submit 3 months bank statements but only had a couple of thousand in the account. Still got my 90 days, nothing to do with the 800,000 baht required for 1 year extension.

What does it say on the Thai Embassy e-visa page London? Its all written there. Every Thai Embassy abroad has little different requirements (and prices) for non-immi-O. Thats why you get different answers here 😉

we only had to make sure that funds were in our uk bank account we did not have to have £18-£19k in our uk bank account just sent 3 months bank statements we have about £2k in the uk bank that was it for our non o visa when you get to Thailand u must get your documents and take to the bank open a bank account w have a k bank bank account will take about 2 hours to open the account and then transfer 800k to that bank account and make sure its in there for 2months then after that u can renew you non o visa for a 1 year non o visa

I've obtained 4 Non O visas from the UK, based on marriage, and my balance was sometimes only £1200. So if you apply for Non O based on retirement it would be OK at £1500 minimum.

You're confused mate.

Whilst in the uk u must simply show the funds are available, approximately 18-19k depending on current exchange rate. It does not need to be in the bank for any length of time.

Once in Thailand, you transfer a minimum of 800k into a Thai bank account, you leave it mature for 2 months then apply to extend your Non-O for a year, in that 2 months your balance must not fall below 800k (so bring extra for spending), once you've applied you must still keep balance above 800k for a further 3 months otherwise you will be unable to extend the following year, so bring enough spends for 5 months at least

OP
Osian Ledger I posted this query specifically so that there would be no confusion as I recently read a post on here whereby somebody stated that you should have a minimum of £10,000 in your UK bank for 3 months before submitting non o visa application

Paul James although I applied on the "married" version its the same idea but about half the "retirement" type. You don't have to show a certain balance but a sufficient income over 3 months. In my case around £1000 per month, where it was from (my job and small pension) with my name and address on every relevant page. IMPORTANT! No screenshots, it must be an original statement in pdf jpeg etc.

As with all Thai official more information is better. You know the Lennon phrase "less is more"? In Thailand that isn't true.

3 months bank statement are to prove the 65k monthly income, or to show that you have the 800K funding equivalent which doesn't need to be shown for each month, just the final balance

Osian Ledger ..actually wannikae is correct in my experience, when applying for the non o from outside of Thailand the thai embassy, well in UK ,only need to know you have the equivalent of
*****
0 baht, the time you have had it is irrelevant. Well for me that worked, gave them one statement dated the date of my application and I got my 90 day non o. It's only when extension of one year is made in Thailand that you need to show the timeline of funds and that is two months.

Osian Ledger okay I'll try better.

There are two funding options to qualify. One is the 65K a month method for three consecutive months or the one time 800k method which requires no seasoning.

I was below 10k until I sold my house and I got my non o without any issues.I think you are correct that the website states this but as your final balance will be 300k it’s not an issue
