TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian passport holder is looking for advice on extending their retirement visa, which expires on March 6. Comments suggest options such as extending at immigration for 1900 baht or using a visa agent for assistance. Various suggestions include exiting Thailand to obtain a new entry stamp while ensuring to have the necessary health insurance for another year. It is highlighted that a quick trip to a neighboring country can simplify the process and potentially grant an additional year.

If it an O-A from Oz and you’re on your 1st year (as you said it’s multi-entry), why don’t you leave and return just before it runs out? Go to a neighbouring country and back in again. You’ll get almost an extra year out of that visa by doing that.
Note, you won’t have multi-entry on the 2nd year but easy enough to get. You’ll also need to extend your compulsory insurance. No need to prove 800k in your Oz bank either as you’re on your original O-A visa! 😀👍
If you have a multi-entry retirement visa expiring in March then you are probably on a Non-OA Visa (unless you are already on an extension with a re-entry permit). If that is the case you can get your insurance for another year and exit and re-enter Thailand to get a new 12 month entry stamp (but not multi-entry) before the Visa expires.
I’m in the same position. Need to extend my O-A visa by mid-April. Living in Hua Hin. Also keen to know the process and the documents required. Thanks in advance.
An agent can clearly help with the paperwork if you fulfill all the requirements. Some agents can also help to "close the gaps". But... that's not really a good way.
