I read alot that agencies can get you a non o retirement visa, but what happens after the 90days,do they then get you the 1 year extension, because you have to show 800,000bt in your bank.

Does that mean I have to transfer the 800,000 from my bank in England to my new thai account
Answer summary
This discussion revolves around the process of obtaining a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand, specifically addressing what occurs after the initial 90-day visa. Key points include the requirement to have 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account for a one-year extension and the feasibility of transferring funds from a home country account. Several comments suggest that while agencies can manage the application process, including bank account setup and extensions, it may be more cost-effective and simpler to secure the initial visa abroad, open a bank account in Thailand, and handle the extension personally. Concerns are raised about potential risks and costs associated with using agencies, and varying personal experiences are shared regarding the ease or difficulties of these processes.

You get the 90 day non immigration visa in your own country not in thailand

Consider a Non-OA for the first year. It takes a (cheap) health insurance and some more documents, but you get 1 year at first shot and you dont need 800,000 THB at account but can do with a monthly income of 65,000 THB.

Our team does not offer the Non-O visa as a standalone service. The full process must be handled together, including the Non-O visa, bank account opening if you do not already have one, and the yearly extension.

We have a new promotional offer for first-time retirement visa applicants who are already in Thailand on a tourist visa or visa-exempt entry.

Pricing depends on how quickly you would like the process completed:

■ ฿45,000 if you can wait approximately 2 to 3 weeks

■ ฿50,000 if you need it completed within a few days

■ ฿55,000 for same-day completion, approximately 6 to 7 hours

The package includes:

■ 3-month Non-O visa

■ 12-month retirement extension

■ Bank account opening assistance

We have also extended our special ฿14,000 annual retirement renewal price. This includes our door-to-door service at no additional cost.

The process for a retirement visa is on the Immigration Department website. A lot of the information given by the Immigration agencies is not part of the official process. For me this raises alarms. From experiences any deviations from the official procedure can have consequences. I am in the process of getting information for obtaining a retirement visa from the internet and from friends who are long term residents. I will be using the official procedure, for me trying to do it quicker or cheaper has too much risk.

William Byron I was originally quoted 64k for everything, including multiple entry and Non-O 90 day visa.

Doing my Non-O 90 day visa from my home country before traveling, saved me a lot and done right online for a couple thousand baht.

My final with me doing the Non-O and still having multiple entry and a few other perks, costs me, ฿30,500 (approx $920)

If that helps.

Our current offer is 45,000 THB if you're comfortable with the standard processing time of 2-3 weeks, or 55,000 THB if you want the entire process completed within the same day.

Visa-exempt entry or a Tourist Visa. Even if you do not have enough days remaining, we may still be able to find a solution that allows you to stay in Thailand without having to leave the country.

Some agencies include it in their fee.

We don't, but we allow non-visa clients to use our service as well.

Price is as low as 375 thb per report, and we mail the original immigration receipt to you. But it id important to note you should only use this service if you are not able to sue the free service offered by immigration, and are required to do a in person report.

I loved it, and I am a big believer in using agencies

There are many favorable reasons, and convenience is probably the number one.

Who wants to deal with stress, or showing up with the wrong documents and having to come back and waiting in line all over again

Being rejected

Sleepless nights

I used an agency and I recommend an agency to everybody, unless you just have some great knowledge of the system or do not mind waiting in lines.

It's not that we don't want you to take this route, it's just become a much more expensive option since the bank account opening process became significantly more difficult.

A few years ago, the pricing was much more reasonable because opening the required account was far easier.

Generally, we only recommend this approach when it saves you the cost and inconvenience of a round-trip flight and an expensive hotel stay.

Otherwise, for most people, a little preparation in advance can result in substantial cost savings while also making the process much more straightforward for our team.

Ken Hutchinson I agree. I thought it was well worth it. I just don’t think it’s worth them doing the 90 day Non-O. They gave me a price if they did it, and it was not really cheap. It’s almost like they didn’t want to do it or charge me for it, and encourage me to do it myself since I would be back in the US.

But everything else after that, I agree, was well worth it.
Bradley ********
Bradley ********
William Byron You may need 90 day non-o.

That is what I did and was told.

They gave me a rate to do my 90 day non-o, but they recommended I do it myself because it was so easy and I was in my home country and had to do a visa before I arrived
Doc ********

An agency can certainly do the Non O Visa for you while in the country no problem.

The issue is its going to cost you $$$ and from what I have read once you go this route you are then on the visa agent hamster wheel.

It all depends how deep your pockets are????

I talked to a Visa agent in Chiang Mai last year just to get an idea of costs just for interest sake really.

The lady there wrote down two figures so one was for the Non O Visa in my home country and the other figure was if I did the Non O Visa in Thailand through them.
James **********
James **********
Doc Trevor the only people on the hamster wheel are those that don't have the necessary funds. However that is becoming harder due to needing a 12mth bank statement for a renewal. If you have the funds you're just paying to save hassle
Dave *******

Doc Trevor not really money isn’t tied up .plus what you make through that money on pension fund pays them fees tbh
Doc ********

Dave Flago Sure if you want the agent to do it for you then fill your boots.

Just be mindful if the authorities crack down on the money part not being in the bank long enough then you're up shit creek without a paddle.

In the end It's up to you if you're happy to run the gauntlet and take the risk???
Doc ********

Joiner Man Yeah true but if the government changes the rules then it doesn't really matter.

I think someone on here or maybe another FB page I think was saying that some immigration offices are now actually starting scrutinising this practice more closely so I guess it's the case of buyer beware.

It could be BS I don't know but I certainly don't want to be the lab rat and get caught out by it.
Joiner *****

Doc Trevor imagine the outcry from immigration if they cracked down on any of this

Most couldnt live on their wages and rely on agents to pay them

To get a legal 12 month extension in Thailand , as you are from the UK, you need to deposit 800,000 baht into your Thai account for 2 months prior to the extension application.

To open a bank account in Thailand you need to be on a long term visa, like the Non-O.

Save yourself a lot of problems and money by getting the 90 day non-O before travelling to Thailand.

Much easier and cheaper to just get the Non-O yourself before travelling to Thailand. Get here, open a bank account and transfer in a minimum of 800k baht and apply for the 12 month extension of stay. It's not a difficult process

If you are already in Thailand

They can do the whole lot

90 days Non-O

+

12 months extension

THAI ******************************
THAI ******************************
@Bob *********
When we assist with this process, the bank account is always opened together with the initial Non-O, as we coordinate both sides of the process on the same day. It would not be opened while you are on a tourist visa or visa-exempt entry.

This coordination is also a major reason why the process is more expensive.

Whenever possible, it is much better to obtain your initial Non-O before arriving in Thailand. You can then open the bank account yourself and potentially save around 30,000 THB++.

Dave Owen surely agents can't season money. It has to remain in account before extension approved and for months after

Plus not drop below 400k.
