A simple question, with simple answer. If you extend your retirement on 800.000 Bht money in the bank, how much months bankstatements they need? With monthly income it is 12, but not think so for this method.

TLDR : Answer Summary
For extending a retirement visa in Thailand with 800,000 Baht in your bank, the requirements vary based on how many times you've extended your visa. For your first extension, you need at least 3 months of bank statements showing the 800,000 Baht maintained for that period. For subsequent extensions, you are required to provide 12 months of bank statements. Additionally, the 800,000 Baht must be in your account for at least 2 months before applying and maintained during the extension period.

It is not bank statements you need but your bank book. It has to be updated for the past 12 months including up to the day you apply for your renewal. Plus a letter from you bank which is valid for 3 working days after the bank gives you the letter. The 800,000 balance has to be in your bank 2 months before and 3 months after you apply for renewal. Minimum balance can not go below 400,000.

whatโ€™s a bank book?

@Jo *********
when you open an account you are given a bank book which when updated shows all transactions on your account. It has your name printed on the first page. If you loose it or it is stolen you have to make a police report before you can get another one You will need it to renew your retirement visa plus photocopies.

Thanks for explaining. While i have been staying in Thailand for 10+ year I have always had a European bank and Singapore bank account. So I am a bit shocked by this in that everything has been done electronically for many years now in these countries.

...so how does it work if you go through an agency and they deposit
*****
0 baht on your behalf, presumably only for a very short time, to get visa extension. You will have no bank statement showing money deposited over a period of time...does anyone ever check it...or are you then stuck with an agency forever....just interested !!

Been today. Officer give answer tomorrow. The not seem to hold previous against me, as I had proof enough of transfer and means. In fact I rely on their good will for only one thing. That is affidavit by a embassy of income. I have no pension. My firm pays me payback on investment every month. My firm is in France, I am Belgian, that seems problem, as embassy cannot give affidavit on that

if you go down the agent route, where they somehow qualify you, you are stuck in that loop.

You will be at the mercy of said agency and the process they work in perpetually.

For some that is okay and the cost is acceptable.

Personally I think it's a bit of a mine field.

...Mmmm...bit dodgy then...I assume immigration could do a spot check on your details

You first need bank statements showing the 800k baht has been in your account for at least two months. Then for next year's extension you will need 12 months of statements showing the 800k baht has been in your account for three months after you received your first yearly extension, then to show you've had at least 400k baht in your account for every month for the rest of the year, and that you brought the balance back up to 800k baht at least two months before you applied for your next yearly extension.

If it's your first extension you should only need 3 months. Subsequent extensions need the full 12 months
