Are Airbnb reservations accepted as proof of accommodation when applying for a 60 day Thailand Tourist Visa? That is to say, can they be submitted with the Visa application to show one's travel plans in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, Airbnb reservations are accepted as proof of accommodation when applying for a 60-day Thailand Tourist Visa. Applicants can print the Airbnb booking confirmation page or request a confirmation directly from the host. It's recommended to include the name of the Airbnb listing on the visa application, as this is perceived more favorably by immigration officials.

Linda: Yes AirBnB bookings are accepted as a proof of booking your stay in Thailand. You can print the AirBnB booking confirmation page (which should have the address on it) or you can contact the host to write you a booking confirmation.

Some guests seem to prefer a dedicated booking confirmation just in case, but I don't think it's necessary. Still it should be easy for a host to write something up.

Oh and it's always good to use the name of a place on any visa application or the arrival card you get on the plane, not just a street address. Immigration officers seem to give people less crap when there is something there that looks like a hotel name, even if it's just "Great Little Condo" or some such, followed by the address. (So use whatever the AirBnB listing name is)

Especially Chinese people seem to appreciate the confidence of something to print that looks like a proper booking confirmation. (In fairness they need to do a visa on arrival.) Something like this.

How about stating WHERE you are in the world, what your nationality is and what thai consulate you're thinking of using to get a tourist visa?

I got my SETV in Phnom Penh via an agent. I wasn't asked for an address.

Go to Booking.com book a room with free cancellations. Print out the confirmation then cancel the booking. That’s how I have done it the last two times at KL with no problem!

From what I heard, KL is extremely difficult to acquire a tourist visa, and you must give exactly what they want. If they want a listing of all your booked hotels, they'll want a listing of all of the hotels you've booked, and when. Putting down any ole address is a quick way to get the visa application rejected.

That's a good question. It appears AirBnB *MAY BE* illegal in Thailand, unless they are booked for 30 days or more.

Yes, that Bangkok Post article was very ill informed. Journalist didn't really understand crucial details, and even failed to understand that the ruling was about a specific stay in a specific condominium and not at all a general ruling on which booking channels people may or may not use to book accommodation in Thailand. ;)

airbnb is not illegal if the host has a hotel/guesthouse license or renting more than 30 days
