TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for proof of accommodation may vary by consulate, so it is best to check the consulate's specific rules before applying. Generally, you can show accommodation for the entry point, and some consulates may even request a booking for at least 7 days after your e-visa application is submitted. For accurate information, refer to the official Thai e-visa website.

After you submit your proof of accommodation on the e-visa system the affiliated Thai consulate will send you an email for any further documents they want from you. In my case I received the email 1 week after I completed my e-visa application. They asked for an accommodation booking of at least 7 days. (Thai consulate Ottawa Canada)

This is the website of an agency.

You need to look at the website of the consulate you will be applying through to see what their rules are, as each one has their own rules and requirements.
