TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Special Tourist Visa (STV) in Thailand, a lease agreement is typically accepted as proof of accommodation after the initial state quarantine (ASQ) period. Many applicants have successfully used their rental contracts as sufficient documentation. However, it is crucial to ensure that the paperwork is correctly completed and that you fulfill all other requirements to avoid disqualification, as highlighted in a recent case where a hotel's reservation was needed instead of a letter from a friend.
I applied for the STV at the embassy in DC last week and I got an email that it was disqualified. I finally got in touch with someone at the embassy today and they told it's because I submitted a letter of invitation from my Thai friend and not a hotel reservation. I'm trying to figure out how to send in the hotel reservation document or reapply but the online application won't let me submit again.
Without any hesitation they will have another country-wide lockdown. The measures in spring were hugely successful and there is no indication that the government might hesitate.
Yes. For some stupid reason they assume a “tourist” will book a hotel or condo for 90 days (or 240) straight away and have no plans to travel around the country to see the sights. One of the most ridiculous requirements I’ve seen, but then again TIT.
