TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 60-day tourist visa for Thailand, a full accommodation booking is not required. You only need to show a booking for the first day or provide a valid address for the visa application.

No booking needed for TP approval. Just an address.

Just the first day or so. They’re not expecting a full paid up itinerary.

thanks Stuart, if I have any other questions about the process, can I ask them in this thread or should I make new threads?

ask in this thread. No issue. The same form is used for many visa types and some questions will appear weird. Like who is sponsoring you or inviting you to Thailand. Just upload another copy of your passport. They’re not expecting a tourist to know someone here.

is an onward ticket required for the TV? I plan to extend 30 days, then apply for retirement.

Short version: Yes.

Long version: many get away without a return/onward ticket. Usually immigration don’t care, but whether your airline will let you board without one is a coin flip.

Some embassies require it. Some don’t.
