I'm in Vietnam to do a 60 days tourist visa,

Do I need a paid hotel booking for all 60 days??

Or, how can I make a hotel booking in one location for just 60 days which is pretty weird

TLDR : Answer Summary
A proof of accommodation for the entire stay in Thailand is required when applying for a tourist visa. One user shared their experience of booking and paying for a hotel for 40 days, which they later canceled and received a refund after their visa was approved. Questions about the visa process and related documentation were also discussed.

Just wanted to ask about the new document I received from Ho Chi Minh Thai Embassy today. Does this mean I'll get my passport back with the stamp on the next day ?

yes sure ^^ but I would recommend you to visit Hanoi Thai Consulate because HCM need 1 week advance online appointment. Hanoi is just walk in visa apply 9-12 and pick up 1- 3 pm after 3 working days

it means you APPLIED for a tourist visa, paid the fee, turned in the passport and application and you go back tomorrow and get it

Usually they won't take your money OR let you apply if you're not gonna get it

I got my Thai tourist visa at the Hanoi embassy two weeks ago. Yes, you need a proof of accommodation for your whole stay in Thailand - I booked a hotel on Agoda for 40 days and paid for it, then after my visa was approved, I canceled it and got refunded.

The whole process in Hanoi was very smooth and quick - took about 3 days for them to grant me the visa, they were very helpful at the embassy and basically told me exactly what to do.

Now, I'm already in Thailand.

seeing as there are only TWO thai consulates in Vietnam Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. WHAT does the website of the consulate you're applying at say?
Tod *********
The thai consulate in Ho Chi Minh City DOES require a confirmed booking for at least half your stay (so if you're getting a tourist visa you need a booking for 30 days AND it says it has to start the day you arrive).

The thai consulate in Hanoi doesn't mention ANY proof of lodging requirement for a tourist visa that I can see

hi Todd I wrote to the hanoi embassy and they replied two days ago with a word doc that was a bit different to the website. I can't work out how to attach the document but I've copy pasted a section here

"-Hotel reservation/ accommodation booking, OR House Leasing contract, with ID/Personal Income Tax Code copy of the lessor FOR THE WHOLE DURATION OF YOUR STAY IN THAILAND. House details could also be required.

- Detailed Travel Plan, tour activities, and destinations … (and reasons why to travel to those places) during the whole periods that you will stay in Thailand in Thailand, in written form (paper)."

ok ok I see. I just worry that when I enter Thailand after getting tourist visa from Hanoi the Thai immigration might ask me for hotel bookings. I'm just confused if I should book for free cancellation pay at property booking or free cancellation paid booking. Dunno if the immigration/embassy will telephone for confirmation.

@May *****
you are confusing BUYING a visa from the consulate <- and their requirements with ENTERING the country and those are two different things.

You can be asked for proof of Lodging when you stamp in, along with proof of funds, and proof of onward travel but few people are asked

Make a booking for a few days just in case you're asked when you stamp in and then cancel it once you get here

NO the embassy and the immigration office here don't communicate with each other πŸ˜• Dial back the paranoia just a bit πŸ˜‰
