Hi! Is it OK to hand in Airbnb booking, given that the exact address is not written on the paper?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses concerns about using an Airbnb booking, which typically lacks a full address, for visa applications in Thailand. Users highlight that an Airbnb booking may not suffice compared to hotel reservations, which are considered more compliant with visa requirements. There's an emphasis on the legal status of Airbnb in Thailand, with caution advised against mentioning it to officials. Some suggest alternatives like booking through a service that provides proper confirmation for visa applications.

No because an AIR BNB booking is not a hotel booking. You need the Owner's ID and house book.

Book on booking.com and choose the option to pay at the property. They will send you a proper confirmation which will be sufficient enough to apply for visa.

In that case Fahim, I would cancel the Airbnb room and reserve a hotel room. Have a wonderful visit :-)

Very true and I really understand and appreciate that. That is why I am here to ask since I do not intend to get involved in any illegal acts. So, I ask first to prevent any unintentional problems. These all show that everyone here respects the law of the country we are going to visit.

Fahim, in this group we do not recommend or advocate our members engaging in anything that is illegal or borderline grey area as it is unnecessary just complicates your visit to Thailand.

Get the real address of the Airbnb and say you're renting out the apartment from a friend of friend.

Well... they say hotel booking is a must for tourist visa. What if someone hands in a hotel booking and stays in Airbnb?

Ask the host for the exact address.

Also keep in mind that Airbnb is not legal. Do not mention to officials about Airbnb to avoid trouble with yourself or your hosts.

The AirBnb place I stayed at had this sign in front, luckily I never got caught. So I guess be careful and just avoid the juristic office

I wouldn't say AirBnB is illegal, it's just a platform. But short term rentals without appropriate permits etc is. Nothing wrong with renting a condo via AirBnB for +30 days.

I thought leases under airbnb were OK as long as >1month / 30 days- shorter than that they fall foul of some hotel related legislation.

Like Barry says, Airbnb is illegal in Thailand, IF you have any issues during your stay, you will not be protected!
