I think people travelling with only cash Can Be More bigger problems. 20k is not much For a holiday. Showing credit card(s) should Be More of trust to Have no financial problems.

Thailand IS not More cash society. Hotels and restaurants usually accept credit cards. And as you know with cards you get cash.

That rule of 20k is old and usually asked If you are not looking like a decent tourist ..
