Yes yes, I know this now, would've been nice if you'd made that a biiiit more clear before I went to do that yesterday, but it is what it is. Doing that tomorrow.
Apparently it's not enough evidence that I'm no longer working there to just have an expired work permit... they wouldn't let me hand it in and are insisting I still do the proper paperwork to cancel my nonexistent work. TIT
Okay thanks. I only omitted my country as it wasn't relevant, I'm leaving to HCMC in 9 days (8 days in an hour) and both amounts are more than that. Cheers. Glad to be done with visa drama, even if it means I get a little more fees squeezed out of me before I'm free of the work permit's hold.
I think I was being polite in my response when my question was being misinterpreted and not being answered more than once. But cheers for your concern.
I was pretty sure they would see I had a visa that should still be good and sure enough, they asked for a work permit. I tried explaining the situation in Chiang Mai and since I was the first person/time they'd heard of it, I handed them the letter from Employment Office saying no more work permits are given to volunteers next. They took it to make a copy and went to another building I'm assuming to talk to someone about it. Came back, handed back my letter and I was able to pick up my non-O visa the next day for work with the same foundation.
I asked the man as he handed back my letter if other people in the same situation had the same letter and came to get a non-O like I was if they would be okay and he said yes, but who knows. I just know it worked for me and I wish anyone else similar success so we can keep volunteering here.
