this is confusing. up until now I've been staying in hotels, but I will be in the country for 90 consecutive days. does it matter if I stay in a hotel or some kind of "homestay"?

that makes more sense yes. But what makes sense might not be how things are...

I'm changing hotels a lot, and I already missed a few days. Apparently they can only issue a tm30 for the last 24 hours.
