Hi guys. This is my situation. I've worked as a teacher here for many years and never really had any issues here before about cancelling visas when leaving a job. Anyhow my last working day is the 30 th January. I have a letter stating that. Signed and stamped by the school. However my boss refuses to cancel the WP on the 30 th. She says she will do it on the 3 rd.
I spent 4 hours at the labour department yesterday trying to sort this out. The labour department agreed that I was in the right and several officials called my boss telling her that she was wrong and had to comply with thai laws and do it on the 30 th. Unfortunately my boss was rude to staff and before anyone asks no I've done nothing to warrant this.
Her reaction to me wanting not wanting to renew my contract was to serve me notice papers within 30 working days the very same day. I currently live and work in Nakhon Pathom province. Unlike Bangkok the visa can't be cancelled in advance and this immigration give no 7 days rejection application stamp. I have asked them several times and staff at the labour department also asked them for me. I don't know why but they don't do it.
The labour department told me just to walk in school in the 30 th and then leave the country the same day. Then go cancel everything on the 3 rd of February. Then I wouldn't be detained for overstay as I'll have a new 60 day stamp. I will be fined though right? For everyday my visa is not cancelled ? I have a new teaching position in Bangkok and that's why I need the visa stamped cancelled along with the WP. I know once I leave it will automatically cancel.
I'm still waiting for answers at the labour department but any advice from the forum would be highly appreciated. They won't let me do it myself as they said I can't because it's done online. My boss told them she expects me to work to 6 o clock that day . I work for a language school so we work in the evenings. Immigration told the labour department I'm not expected to work the whole entire day as I have the right to cancel the WP and visa and leave the country. The labour department requested ages change the letter stating the last day as the 3 rd but she will not.
It's obviously a stressful situation to be in. My contract was up on the 15 th February and I had every intention of completing it. Any advice would be highly appreciated.
I plan to retire on 30 September. I am currently working with a work permit visa extension. My current residency is in Nakhon Pathom, but I will move to Bangkok. May I kindly ask for advice on the best timeframe to apply for the new visa extension. Many thanks
I know certificate of residency has been discussed here before. However, I would like to start a thread of people's recent reports of acquiring one. I tried in Jan 2025 at Nakhon Pathom Immigration and was told no certificates for DTV holders.
For people who received one recently, please share which office you applied, what documents were needed, and a summery of the overall process.
Hi, this is a continuation of a previous question I asked about opening up a bank account. Recap: I have a Non O visa on my Italian passport, I am residing in a monastery, the owner/abbess has provided a letter of residency, ID, householder book. I am in the process of getting my Italian ID card translated and notarized so I will have two valid forms of ID from the same country (apparently a French driver’s license does not count because they can’t seem to understand why an Italian would not have an Italian driver’s license). No bank in Nakhon Pathom, where I live, will open a bank account for me. My question: can I open a bank account in Bangkok even if my address is in another city? The visa agency says I can but I’m just double checking all of you. Thanks.
Hi everyone, even though I have Non O visa, a letter from the owner of the place I’m staying and everything else you can think of, I’m having a hard time opening a bank account in Nakhon Pathom. If need be, can I open an account in Bangkok with a Nakhon Pathom address? Thanks
Hello all, I have a non-visa question so it falls under the category of ‘and everything else’ 😉. I might need to redo a crown during my stay in Thailand (December- April). Any suggestions for a great dental clinic in Bangkok or Nakhon Pathom, which is where I’ll be staying for most of my trip? Thanks. You guys are really helpful.
If I want a re-entry for my visa, do I need to make it at the immigration office where my visa was issued? My visa was issued in Bangkok, but I live in Nakhon Pathom.
Hi Guys, so I am on my second yearly extension of stay (Student visa, bachelor studies at thai university) and my current extension is running out on dec17. TBH I don't remember anything about the Immigration policies bcs i spent most of covid in Germany. I do have to make an appointment in advance, right? can i do that already? and how long in advance should i go before the extension is up? I'll get the necessary documentation from uni but i don't quite remember if i needed anything else.
Also I'll have to do an internship next year and i'd love to know if anyone has any expreience on this. My teachers told me that im gonna get paid for my internship but i fear it is conflicting with work regulations as im not allowed to work on a student visa. Also I already got an offer for the internship and they said they gonna pay me. I don't need the money but if it is possible i wouldn't say no either :D
last but not least an everything else question: I've been wanting to get my Thai drivers license for an eternity. I have my german license and an international one. I stay in Bang Khae and ive been told that the office responsible for this area is the one at wat rai king in nakhon pathom province but the last time i went there they didn't know anything about getting a leicense for foreigners. Any hint on what i can do?
