They’re up to it AGAIN!! Fricking Bangkok bank just locked my account AGAIN! Now! I just moved to Jomtien from Cha-am and went to the branch here and there they told me it has been locked AGAIN, NO NOTICE! and I have to go back to the branch I Hua Hin to present the information they need in order to have my account reopened!

I MEAN, WTF?!!!!!

Fortunately after the last time about 8 months again when they lock it and other foreigners accounts with NO NOTICE, and every cent I had was locked without access, I said F THIS, and opened a second account at K Bank and monthly put half in one and the other half in the other bank so I always have access to money when these MFKRS decide to just lock your money up!

FYI! K Bank took about 15 minutes to open the account, Bangkok Bank was an hour and a half so I highly recommend if any of you are coming to live in Thailand screw Bangkok Bank and go to K bank !!!! 😡🤬

An update for those following the Bangkok Bank debacle.

Yesterday after 31 days of my account being frozen, I made my fourth trip back to the bank and they said they were unlocking the account and I then withdrew the funds and closed the account.

I asked the bank manager and the assistant manager why they had frozen my account. They responded, "we don't know". I asked them if they were personally okay with having their own banking account frozen for 30 days with no notice or explanation. They shrugged and avoided the question and moved on to the next customer.

My experience with Bangkok Bank has been nothing but miserable and alarming. Locking up a customers account and telling them they have 30 days advance notice but in fact had zero notice before locking the account then later providing no explanation why the account is locked breeds uncertainty, insecurity, massive inconvenience for daily living and distrust of the Thai banking system. This is a slap in the face to customers who depend on having access to the funds they entrust to the bank for safe keeping. Don't say you weren't warned about this unethical bank. I'll never go back again.

Hello! I've applied for a refund from thai smile yesterday and i haven't received any update from them yet. How much time would they normally take to process the refund? I have submitted a form on their website asking for a refund as per terms and conditions and it said that I'm eligible for a refund after paying cancellation fee. But, the status of the refund is still pending. I have sent them an email but i haven't got a response yet. Has anyone applied for a refund from them before? If yes, how was your experience? How many days would they take to process the refund?

An update on Phuket Immigration services.

There’s maybe some value in here for others...

I was very pleased as it was early afternoon, and I was in and out in about 20 minutes for two services done, one after the other...

First service was a Certificate of Residency, my address was current, 90 day reporting current and extension of stay in order. Volunteer smiled, gave me a form, showed me where to complete, showed me and marked with paperclips the three passport items required to be photocopied, and that a photo was required. Form completed, photocopies made, signed and dated, photo obtained I returned to volunteer, more smiles and polite chit chat, and the magic number slip printed.

Sit briefly, then called to desk 5, more politeness, 300 baht paid, sit briefly again. Called to desk 4, certificate provided with passport. Fast, courteous, done with smiles.

Second service asked of volunteers ad-hoc, is my 90 day reporting in range for 9 June? Pleasantly answered yes, another magic slip provided. No time to sit, called immediately to desk 2, greeted by a quietly singing man. Smiles, pleasant chit chat, reporting form completed by him, signed by me, passport stapled, respectful, friendly, courteous and relaxed.

A thank you to volunteers, returned with a beaming smile and I was done...

I like visiting Phuket Immigration.

One day I may stop fearing it... 5555
