I'm a Belgian man, 55 years old. In februari, I come with a Non-immigrant O retirement visum for 90 days. I will change this after 60 days in a non-immigrant O retirement visum for 1 year. I'm living in Bangkok. I have a long-term rental contract of a condominium. I also have already 800000 bath on a fixed account. My question is : is this ok that my 800000 bath is on fixed account, of must it on a saving account?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Belgian expat in Bangkok, aged 55, is seeking clarification on whether his 800,000 baht in a fixed deposit account meets the requirements for his Non-Immigrant O retirement visa extension. It was clarified that while certain types of fixed accounts can be acceptable, those where funds are 'frozen' for the term cannot be used, as immigration requires that funds must be accessible for verification.

If you mean a fixed term account, where you cannot have access to your money until the fixed term expires, the answer is no you cannot use this type of account, as immigration says you must have access to the available funds.

sorry deleted the off topic comments

He's not asking about the seasoning of funds, he's asking WHAT type of fixed account can be used to show proof of funds.

He entered on a Non-O visa so there is no requirement that the funds come from abroad to get the year extension.

In thailand there are two types of 'fixed' accounts.

In one type the funds can be accessed any time during the term of the deposit (even if you lose interest or get a penalty) this type account can be used

In the other type the funds are "frozen" for the term of the deposit <- meaning you cannot access them. This type account CANNOT be used

ok. Thank you very much. I have that type of 'fixed' account that the funds can be accessed any time during the term of the deposit. So I'm ok โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘.

you will still need to get the bank letter (it's a 5 or 6 linee letter stating your name, passport number, account number and balance the date they wrote the letter) AND you need to try to update the passbook the day you apply <- usually on fixed accounts it only shows the most recent interest payment to the account BUT that should be okay.
