After 18 months in Thailand on exemptions and extensions I'm feeling great being back in on the DTV. I will need to transition from travel insurance to proper expat health insurance in September. How much is this going to cost me? My main priority is direct billing to Bangkok Hospital. I'd appreciate any pointers as I continue my research. Curious what products other DTV folks have selected.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around finding the right expat health insurance for those on a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, especially for direct billing with Bangkok Hospital. It emphasizes that costs can vary significantly depending on age, health conditions, and specific insurance plans. Several users recommend providers like AXA, LUMA, and Pacific Cross, and mention average costs ranging from $100 to $500 monthly, with many factors influencing the final pricing.
As others have said its age and health status dependant, however for a decent policy at age around 55 you need to be budgeting anywhere between 70k-120k per year. And it will only increase with age.
Anonymous participant 227 i m using Pacific Cross also and I agree it’s best value for money — esp if u just need to have it as a backup and u r healthy with no underlying health conditions.
Genki health worked out great for me. Always paid out on all hospital visits all around the world, including bangkok hospital. However, it’s not direct billing but a reimbursement system. Takes about 2 weeks to 1.5 months to receive. I am 30 and pay 70 per month usd
Анонімний учасник just buy protrip from Dr walter, that is same product that Genki sold, but directly and they allow up to 12 visits via Air Doctor that paid directly to BH without reimbursement
Got 2. One with Amex platinum. One with New World in Hong Kong. I use the Amex travel insurance on anything that’s an emergency. The new world is a health insurance for bigger unforeseen circumstances.
My wife and I both hold dtv, I travel back to London to work, so i have a 90 day travel insurance. I do my wife's health insurance through AXA, its about £100 per month.
