I just watched a YouTube video posted today from a visa agent in Pattaya, he stated that a maximum of 2 visa exempt entries in 1 calendar year into Thailand is law now and that anyone trying to re-enter more than twice on visa exempt in 1 calendar year will be refused entry at immigration, regardless, even if you have never applied for an extension or done border bounces before.

My friend is due to arrive from Australia on Wednesday, he has done 2 visa exempt entries this year and has always returned to Australia after each visit, his last entry in to Thailand was August this year.

Will he be denied entry this time, he is applying for a tourist visa today after hearing this news but he may not receive the visa in time for his departure flight from Australia this Wednesday?

I don’t know why Thailand bothers with these baffling visa rules. It’d be easier & Thailand would make more money if they just charged everyone on entry a certain amount. ie say a 1000 per month, the longer you stay the more you pay. It makes sense to me 😎

If I stay 180 days , leave on a border run , then stay another 180. Border run again. Would immigration see this as an issue with the new rules ?

Sorry about the anonymous post I don't usually do it but don't want a certain person bugging me. Done my second entry today at chiang khong and it was smooth asf. Leaving laos he said you only stayed one night but I had my print out to hand and (laminated with dtv print out on one side and soft power document on the other side.a smile and through in 2 mins max. On the thai side exactly the same but took a bit longer as the lady was interested about my cycle touring as I was entering with my touring bike.took about 3 mins max. Showed my dtv but she just passed it back to be with a โคกดีและปลอดภัยเดินทาง.

Tip for Non-O Visa Holders Visiting Thai Family!

If you've used your 60-day extension, be cautious with land border runs. My husband was denied re-entry from Cambodia but flew back from Siem Reap to Bangkok and got his 60-day stamp easily. Consider flying for a hassle-free return! ✈️😊

Hi to everyone

Is there a limit on how many times a year I can enter Thailand by plane?

I had problems entering the country the last two times (December 2024 and February 2025). They said that I already had too many Thai stamps from different years in my passport. Am I violating the law here?

I fly to Taiwan on Friday and come back to Thailand 10 days later. Now I'm worried that there could be problems with immigration again. what is the legal situation?

I am traveling with a German passport. never had an overstay either. And always travel to Thailand with a return ticket.

There has been numerous media reports come out today stating big changes in visa entries to Thailand, including that visa exempt entries will get 60 days, and a reduction of the mandatory insurance requirement for OA and OX visas, as of June 1st

Not any official statements that I’ve seen so far but you can check out some details here - [members only]/

Now at this moment in time it’s press articles, so not guaranteed to change, but they state the cabinet have approved the measures. In 4 days we will find out.
