If I stay 180 days , leave on a border run , then stay another 180. Border run again. Would immigration see this as an issue with the new rules ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the implications of staying in Thailand for 180 days using border runs. Most commenters agree that if one holds a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa), doing two consecutive 180-day stays with a border run in between should not pose an issue. However, it's noted that the immigration rules may evolve, particularly for visa-exempt entries. There are concerns that frequent border runs could attract scrutiny in the future, especially when applying for a second DTV.

ask yourself why they make you do a boarder run after 180 days. they want you to leave!!

dont milk the system. 180 is enough

If you have DTV, no
Paul *******
No. However, it might still be a good idea to spend a couple of days outside the country between entries.

Only one eswith a Dtv ? No problem so far ?

The rules are for visa exempt entries. What you describe is actually what the DTV is intended for.

Assuming you have a DTV it's not an issue but will make you tax resident after 180 days in any calendar year

You can not stay 180 days using the Visa Exempt Entry, it will be 60+30 border run 60+30 border run 60+30.

BUT why not use the DTV?

For now, no.

Policy can change, who knows.

Maybe if it ever comes to the question of applying for a second dtv they might add more scrutiny. We wont really know until another 2-3 yrs when the early DTVers will have to renew.

@Hamad *******
about 4 years as the DTV is just over a year old

The new rules are only applying to Visa exempt free stamp entries, you are fine.

laos border was not allowing DTV holders too leave (if they left they could not come back) 2 days ago.

Unsure if they have fixed that. Multiple reports.

It’s actually surrounding extensions isn’t it. And therefore entry stamps. But I thought the hoo-haa was about the extensions.?

@Alessandro **********
it has zero to do with DTV

I don’t think so. DTV is multi entry…
