Marriage as a US citizen:

Has anyone gone to the US embassy in Bangkok lately for a Marriage affidavit and Passport certification? I was wondering how the process went.

From my understandings I just show up at my appointment time with the affidavit filled out, a copy of my data page in my Passport, and the appropriate payment method.

After that I will need to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Department of consular Affairs at 123 Chaeng Wattana RD for a translation and legalization of the documents from the US embassy.

The Passport doesn't need to be legalized and translated right?

Then I take those to the local Ampurs for them to issue a marriage certificate.

Is that correct? Any advice?

Thanks

Hi. I want to apply for the Thai marriage visa. I’m already married to a Thai citizen and I’m getting all the paperwork, money in bank together etc.

Today I was told that I need to get the Thai marriage certificate translated into English, notarised by the British embassy and verified by the Thai Ministry of foreign affairs.

Is this correct? (Seems bizarre as I got married in Thailand and the marriage certificate is in Thai but wouldn’t surprise me.) thanks 🙏
