What is the procedure for legalizing an American marriage certificate for a Non O visa extension in Thailand?

Hi! Two part question:

I went to immigration last week to extend my Non O Immigrant visa. They advised they would extend my visa, however they turned me away because my American marriage certificate (we’re BOTH American) was not legalized in Thailand. They want me to get my American marriage certificate translated by a Thai Consulate approved translator (from English to Thai) and then get It legalized at the Thai Consulate before I can go back to immigration to finalize my extension. Does anyone know if this procedure? Does anyone know of a translator in BKK that’s approved?

Also, I had to wait for other documents be mailed from America (got them yesterday), so my re-appt w immigration is Wed, the same day my visa expires. Since offices were closed today due to the holiday, I’m rush expediting the translation/legalization services tomorrow. IF something hiccups tomorrow and I don’t get the documents back until Thur or Fri and head to immigration, will I have an issue with my extension because of the overstay in trying to handle this issue?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat in Thailand seeks advice on the process of legalizing their American marriage certificate for a Non O visa extension. They were informed by immigration that they need a translation of the certificate by an approved translator and subsequent legalization at a Thai consulate. They also have concerns about potential overstays if delays occur in obtaining these documents before their visa expires.

I say just take the marriage certificate the notarized affidavit and your passports out to the MFA building on Chaengwattana Road. There are translation shops there and even if they can't get it done same day, you could maybe have it done and waiting so when you go to the immigration office on Wednesday morning you could swing by and get the documents from the MFA (seeing as they're both at the government complex)

You don't say where you are in the 600 square KM that make up bankgkok so it's hard to recommend a translation service for you. Usually they are clustered near the embassies. I know there are a BUNCH of them in the Trendy Building on Sukhumvit Soi 13

Okay, NOW I have a clue what the O/P is attempting to do. They are on a 90 day Non-O visa and trying to get an extension that matches their foreign spouse (no thai is involved in this). She is trying to get a trailing spouse extension on her Non-O visa that with an entry stamp that expires Wednesday.

She already got the notarized affidavit from the US consulate, she jjust needs to get the marriage certificate translated into thai and certified as accurate by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office out by the government complex.

I don't know if it can be done by Wednesday because MFA doesn't have same day service anymore. BUT worst case she can go thursday, pay the one day overstay and get the extension that matches her spouse's.

Good Luck to the O/P, sorry we had our wires crossed in the beginning.
