Hello, I have a question is is not related to visas directly, but it more about legalizing documents at the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs in Bangkok (just near Chaeng Wattana Immigration Building). Does anyone know the price for legalizing a translation (a Thai birth certificate translated in English) there and how long does it take to do it? Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question pertains to the legalization of translations of Thai birth certificates into English at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Bangkok. While there are many translation services available, responses indicate that the MFA primarily certifies documents translated into Thai rather than English. Some suggestions regarding translation sources include universities and various translation shops near embassies and consulates. The inquiry also requests information on the costs and timeframes for the legalization process.

I personally have never heard of the MFA stamping or certifying documents translated FROM thai into english. BUT they might put this stamp on it

so you don't have to make another trip back out there you can go out there, drop off the paperwork, pay extra and they will mail it back to you.

Right, this is the stamp. I need it on my translated version of the document. :) So to do this costs 400thb and it takes one day. I remember it was something like this but not sure if still the prices are the same.

FWIW: that's the stamp some immigration offices want people to get on their affidavit of income from abroad document from their consulate to meet the financial requirements for extensions.

Any university will be able to translate it and certify it a true translation.

Are you sure that it needs to be stamped by the MFA ? My department at Uni translates and stamps lots of official documents for foreigners.

Lloyd Turner thank you for your quick response! I already did the translation. I need to put the stamp of the Ministry of Foreign affairs on it saying it is a true translated copy of the original. I need to know how long does that take to do and how much that costs. Thank you.

Any translation shop can do a boiler plate translation from thai to english, BUT the Ministry of Foreign Affairs won't certify it because they certify languages translated INTO thai, not the other way around.

There are a TON of translation shops located near embassies and consulates. There's a bunch down at Mahatun Plaza at the Ploenchit BTS station, there are a bunch in the Trendy Building on Sukhumvit Soi 13, and there are ones out at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building at the government complex on Chaengwattana Road.

there is no same day service out at the MFA. you go one day in the morning and turn in the documents and you pick up your paperwork the next day. It's 400baht for the stamp

Tod, thank you for your reply! Yes, I already did the translation. I need to put the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stamp on it. I will go there to do it, but I need to know how long it takes and what is the price per legalized translated document? I just do not where I can get this info from.
