Will submitting my boyfriend's job offer help my DTV application under the Soft Power category in Thailand?

DTV - Soft Power

Hi everyone!😊

My boyfriend and I are planning to move to Thailand from Japan this year! 🇯🇵✈️🇹🇭

I’m thinking of applying for the DTV under the Soft Power category, and my boyfriend has already been issued a work visa through a Thai company.

I have a question for those who might have experience with this.

Although I meet the required savings amount, I understand that the Soft Power DTV does not allow employment. To strengthen (ensure) my application, I’m considering submitting my boyfriend’s job offer — which includes his salary — as an additional supporting document, since we will be living together.

Do you think this would help my application in any way?

Thank you in advance for any advice! 🙏✨

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing to apply for a DTV under the Soft Power category and is considering using her boyfriend's job offer as a supporting document due to his existing work visa in Thailand. While she has sufficient savings, community members provide varied opinions. Some note that as the DTV is an individual visa, the boyfriend's job offer won't count towards financial support unless they are married, but it might still strengthen her application. Additionally, there are hints of challenges with applying from Japan, as some embassies may scrutinize how she intends to support herself, despite her having adequate savings.

DTV Soft Power is an individual visa, so your boyfriend’s salary or job offer won’t be counted as financial support unless you are legally married.

Immigration mainly checks your own savings and your enrollment in the approved course/activity. You can mention you will live together, but it’s only supplementary.

So it’s better to focus on showing your personal funds and genuine participation in the program 🙂

IF you plan to work on-line apply for the ONLY legal option workcation.

Using details of boyfriends does not count in Thailand.

Don't ask, don't share. I would wait until they ask for means to support yourself (if they ever do). But from reading in this group, I know certain Thai embassies in Japan can be ..

difficult...

You no longer need residency to apply in Japan. Tourists can apply

A supporting letter from boyfriend saying he will suport you and indicating his work can only strengthen your application along with the required soft power course.

If BF sponsors her may work, but some embassies may not accept that.

but it only becomes an issue if the embassy actually asks how she will support herself. If they are fine with her savings then OK.

Yeah, she said she was thinking about submitting her BF's job offer. Maybe best if her bf "loans" some money to beef up the savings and apply independently.

She has the savings. Which embassies are currently asking SP applicants how they will support themselves? I am way behind on this now. Not even scraping data from websites.

You can still work online with SP, if you have online work you can detail that. If you are going to apply in Japan, make sure to read the posts that detail the difficulty of applying there, particularly Tokyo.
