TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the likelihood of obtaining a Thai DTV visa under the soft power category if their partner transfers 500,000 THB to them before their arrival in Thailand. Community responses indicate that approval depends on various factors, including the applicant’s financial standing and embassy requirements, with skeptics suggesting that approval for unaccompanied partners may not be likely without a marriage certificate.

The likelihood to be accepted fulfilling all requirements compares to 1,5 years ago seems already low nowadays. What are people thinking not fulfilling requirements

This sort of stuff is why the DTV will eventually be retired

People with less than $16,000 in savings asking for a 5 year visa to learn to cook pad Thai 🤣

You're an exception. The majority are drunk expats who've been here years and think they know it all.

You'll have to ask them. I'm enjoying their salty tears so wish they stayed too. Very entertaining as you say.

my wife and I have dtvs. I think it's possible to enjoy the program while at the same time recognizing it's probably not going to last

Not everyone is salty

You cant get a DTV on arrival. You have to apply through a Thai embassy prior to departure. Their policy (last I saw) suggests applying no more than 45 days and no less than two weeks from the date you wish to fly.

Depends a lot where you're from and what embassy you apply to.

London for example has no

seasoning requirements for the funds. So yes, he could transfer you the funds on application day.

Since you're not married you'll have to make a standalone application (either under soft power or workcation if you qualify).

Almost all embassies ask for a minimum 3 months (and rightfully so)
