TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around whether applicants can successfully use their parents' bank statements and a sponsorship letter to apply for the soft power DTV visa. Opinions vary: some assert that it's permissible if financial requirements are met and funds show activity from Thailand, while others caution that using sponsorship can complicate the application process and may not be accepted by all embassies.
Arun Thai Cooking and all the comments here suggesting an sponsor will make you inilegible for this visa. The financial requirement is 500k and the thais could care less who has the money AS LONG AS IT IS COMING OUT OF THAILAND AND THERE IS MOVEMENT IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. Of course if you apply as a business owner YOU ARE EXPECTED TO SHOW YOUR BUSINESS MAKES MONEY THUS YOUR BUSINESS IS ACTING AS YOUR OWN SPONSOR. In your specific situation having your parents sponsor for your soft option is perfectly fine by the financial requirement and the scope of this visa. Attaching a recent case where a Japanese National applied with similar conditions at Hanoi YESTERDAY and was approved. Good luck🙏
how on earth can this screenshot detail in any way be similar to a sponsorship letter application? This screenshot shows an applicant with 1 million plus baht of likely their own money.
I could care less what you think of me but i wont let you spread information that could be confusing for other people that come here with the sole intention to get help. Attaching my recent application YES RECENT AS OF LAST WEEK at HANOI when i was approved not for being lucky or by marely putting 500k in the account with no justification. THIS VISA DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO WORK IN THAILAND. Tell me again how can someone maintain themselves in Thailand with just 500k for 5 long years . Let that sink for a minute…. and please tell us how and when you got your visa . I urge you to give us this info it will help a lot of people to see how relevant and up to date your responses are 🙏
You are not the only one who got this visa. Many did without showing income. How come you think it has to be that way just because it is the way you did it?
As for applying (your) logic to understand the requirements, it's not the way it works in Thailand. Some people got this 5-year visa by showing a couple of dental care appointments only. There is no logic to it. You won't go far in Thailand if you think logic has a role to play.
I SEE SOME GOT ( past tense ) i assume. For people that did all of those sort of things is why the embassies are more strict now and thus lots of rejections. LET ME TELL YOU IN THE PRESENT. You have to justify the financial requirement WITH A LOT MORE PAPERWORK AND PROVE YOU CAN MAINTAIN YOURSELF DURIND THE DURATION OF THE VISA. Thanks to all of the abuse that happened in the past. So THANK YOU for the help i guess. I can clearly see who you are NOW the backpacker cycle just never ended for you right ? Well brother i really hope you get the point now and stop confusing people. Still did not post when your approval was and at what embassy 🤣
I do not have to answer your questions. Mine was approved 3 months ago, my son's last week. I am a business owner and have never backpacked in my life, not even when I was a student. Again, ungrounded assumptions...
Than defend your point of view or past experiences with some type of logic because i dont buy your concept of the CURRENT financials requirements of this visa ( just having 500k in a bank account) and the information you pass on to people. IN YOUR WORLD PEOPLE JUST NEED 500k in their account THATS IT. How you come to this conclusion again ? OH because other people had gotten away with this in the past. These people ABUSED THE SYSTEM . I have been watching recent approvals at Hanoi for example and most approvals have satisfied the financial requirement of showing 6 months of continous flow of money and not some strage deposit that has no justification but the embassy MUST BELIEVE is yours. I really cant confirm or deny your claims on previous approvals for people marely providing some information as i have only be part of this group a couple of days. But i travel for a living and have a good understanding in the qualifications THE CURRENT REQUIREMENTS and the scope of this visa. Get some dental treatment or make some story and you will be fine and THAN PEOPLE FOLLOW THIS LOGIC AND GET REJECTED AND THAN SOME OTHER GUY COMES AND SUGGEST TO USE AN AGENCY. Why would you ADVISE them to follow the try and fail ROUTE or to JUST DO THE BARELY MINIMUM . You dont get second shots here is either approval or rejection. NO REFUNDS . if you can just satisfy the requirements by building a GOOD STRONG AND COMPLETE APPLICATION. WHY BROTHER WHO BENEFITS FROM SOMEONE ELSE REJECTIONS . Maybe someone does but thanks god is not me. I look at your profile picture from 2015 this is how i came with the idea you were a backpacker. If you are a business owner now I suggest you you change it so people dont have this perception. My 2 cents 🙏
I did not even read your written diarrhea, but it's not me on this picture. I don't even know this person. I took a picture of him in the street, in Tokyo, where I was living at this time. Again, ungrounded assumptions...
You did read it🤣 or how you came about the picture…the french the french they will always argue and argue like their current president but than get hit by their women on airplanes for talking nonsense Dieu soit avec toi 🙏
maybe in your world a person can be unemployed and still make money without having some kind of sponsor. I am starting to think some people either cannot read or get some kind of benefit my others getting rejected. 🙏
or currently unemployed and on holiday. I'd say people working like a dog are the ones who would have a rough time, those not needing to work are living the dream. A million baht in the bank shows you don't need a sponsor.
And there is no income requirements to qualify for this visa.
's comment about savings. Plenty of people have applied successfully under the digital nomad category with zero income, I myself didn't need to show any income as unemployed and DTV medical. So stop making stuff up. I'm sure I saw a YouTube video on how to live in Thailand on less than $10 a day somewhere. 5555
if you are referring to me i do have my OWN REAL BUSINESS AND MADE A RECOMMENDATION FOR MYSELF ATTACHING MY COMPANY AS IT IS ON PUBLIC RECORDS . I hired myself and earn a salary from my own company. YOU DO NEED A STRUCTURE IF YOU APPLY AS A BUSINESS OWNER. THEY ASK YOU FOR INCOME IN THE APPLICATION LOOK INTO IT YOU WILL FIND IT REALLY CLEAR . The only visa under DTV that does not require JUSTIFIED income is the dependent as it will be under the main applicant. You still need TO SHOW the 500k so a million of liquid money is required for a couple but they wont care as how the dependent got the money. I worked at a US embassy as an intern in the past and can tell you money alone does not guarantee you access to a visa. For the dtv you need proof of stable income not just savings. SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CHEAT THE SYSTEM AND THIS IS WHY THE VISA PROCESS IS MORE STRICT FOR EVERYONE. Do the math does 500k allow you to live in thailand for 5 years .

usd/1825 = 9 usd per day. That wont be enough to even pay the rent. You stated 1 million in savings that is 18 usd still not enough. Hope this help 🙏
savings need to be justified as any other income to be considered for this application. Your past employment is irrelevant and this is where people are asked to provide more documents . Oh i used to work for this oh i USED TO DO THAT. USED DOES NOT MATTER This visa has a provition that does not allow you to work and SAVINGS ALONE will not help you achieve the approval. THEY WANT STABLE CONTINOUS INCOME so you can maintain yourself for 5 years . Keep it simple and dont over complicate yourself and you will be fine. 🙏
Man, you are a joke. I know of several people who applied with their own bank account, showing 500K+ THB, and who are unemployed. This is most probably what happened in the case of this Japanese applicant you have referred to. You are just talking BS based on some personal, ungrounded assumptions.
EDIT: The only place I have heard of which insists on regular income (even for soft power) is Taipeh.

It is not advisable to use sponsorship letters and bank statements. From our experience assisting other applicants, it is generally much harder or not accepted by some embassies.

i think its not possible. Only dependent visa can use sponsorship

Participant anonyme 870 It is not as clear. However, I would not give it a try.
i think its clearly declare its show only need bank statement. I think we can use the sponsorship letter when they declare bank statements or sponsorship letter like needs for dependent or student visa

Participant anonyme 870 There have been reports of people obtaining the visa using a sponsorship letter.
