DTV - Soft Power

I am unemployed and have just over 500k in my account. Another 400k invested. Will that be enough? Has anyone been accepted like this?

I get support from my family. Not regularly, though, so I don't want to give it as income.

For soft power there is no specific income requirement however the 500,000 isn’t supposed to be spent at all furring your trip.. similar to the retire visa 800k sitting in the bank doing nothing. Not for your day to day expenses

Dollars or baht? My dad has a soft power DTV with 600k baht in his account, but I wrote a letter saying I will be fully responsible for him, showing a larger account.

I would have all the supporting documents they may ask for ready beforehand, and also get the documents officially certified.

Like your bank statements etc. Even if you don't need them, it really speeds up the process when they ask for them.

In many cases, this involves obtaining an affidavit to specify the documents you want officiated, and most Thai Royal embassies may request this but also accept affidavits from the home country's embassy, even if it's in another country.

I had them request this in Malaysia and it took two extra weeks as I had to make an appointment at the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to do this.

Hope that helps.

Unemployed? How you going to live on 900K? Is this a temporary plan? You plan to live on savings till 0? What about your future?

If you ask to go to an interview, they may ask you how you survive. It is best to ask your family to provide you with the financial support letter.

Easier if applying in home country. For single person 60k a month is bare minimum but just surviving .

Anonymous participant 761 it always depends about your habits, 50k you have great life in here if you don't drink all the time or travel etc

Anonymous participant 941 I’m not arguing with you but having a great time would mean being able to go on nice trips, socialise enjoy night life etc.

Visa application £300 ?

I just did that...chose retired for employment...showed the money as requested...and had legitimate soft power reason with documents.

If your application is all correct and legitimate you shouldn't have a problem.

You'll need the money to sign up for at least 6 months of your chosen soft power activity before applying. I'd save the support from your family in case they ask how you will support yourself over the 5 year duration of the visa
