Can I add my partner to my DTV application if we aren't married?

Hi guys, my partner and I are considering coming to Thailand long term. I’m considering a DTV for a Freelancer/Remote Worker and meet the criteria. She is also a freelancer but doesn’t have enough saved to apply for this visa. Wondering if it’s possible if I can add her to my application, even though we aren’t married?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquired about the possibility of adding their partner to their DTV application for Thailand since they are both freelancers, but the partner does not have sufficient savings to apply independently. Community responses clarified that one cannot add someone to a DTV application unless they are a legally recognized dependent (spouse or child). The partner would need to apply for her own DTV and meet the required criteria independently, especially if she intends to work as a freelancer in Thailand.

If your spouse also wants to work as a freelancer in Thailand then she'd have to apply for her own DTV. As a dependant based on your approved DTV would not give her permission to work. So that'd be important to remember too 😊

As far as money - my husband who is trailing along under my DTV - he also had to show the funds of 500,000THB. That was in Vancouver Canada.

I thought as a dependent, my savings can be applied to her application, which I have enough to cover. It’s obviously just not in her name for an application. But her not being able to work is actually the bigger issue that I hadn’t considered and makes total sense.

every embassy might be different but my husband had to show 500,000 in his name. And the working part- ya, definitely better if she had her own DTV by the way it sounds 😊

bro I would say if you both can’t get the DTv Visa I’d say get the educational one for a year whilst you save some more money for your partner and then apply for your DTv

Nope. If not married she would need to qualify independently of you

There's no such thing as "adding someone" to your application.

You can apply for DTV, and then if you get it, you are eligible to sponsor for dependent visas based on yours. That would only be for children and spouse, if officially married.

You would first need to receive your DTV before the dependent applies for their own DTV and references your DTV that has already been issued.
