Can a family member's sponsorship letter help with the Thai DTV visa application from the UK?

I wanted to ask if anyone has experience getting the DTV (soft power) and being approved with a sponsorship letter from a member of family? Specifically I will be applying in the UK (my home country) and it would be easier for me to supply this rather than have 500,000 THB in my own bank. Thank you for any answers or advice.
Answer summary
The original poster is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a DTV visa in Thailand with a sponsorship letter from a family member, rather than showing the required 500,000 THB in personal savings. The conversation includes experiences and opinions on the validity of sponsorship letters, the perception of immigration authorities, and suggestions regarding the transfer of funds to meet financial requirements.

How close a family member? If they are a parent that might be ok

Do you have a joint bank account? Or it's only under family member's name?

It’s only under a family members name. But that’s the point of the sponsor, they have the funds that you don’t, but they state financial responsibility for you. It’s an option rather than having funds yourself

it's not gonna work. Just get him to transfer 500k THB into your bank account and you're good to go. If they are willing to support you it shouldn't be an issue

This was my original plan, I’m just worried I’ll get called to interview and they’ll look through months of my bank statements to see if I was transferred a lump sum to meet the 500,000

Well it wouldn’t be a random letter from a random person, it would be from a relative who has the funds available and states that they will be financially supporting the person with the visa.

On the London Thai embassy website it does state that a relative or spouse can do this. I just wanted to hear if anyone had personal experience with this situation and got approved

Why RELATIVE in caps? My father.

I would be interested to know this actually. I'm not sure why immigration would believe some random letter from a random person unknown to them. Even if you did some sort of legal oath by a JP or similar, it wouldn't hold up legally and wouldn't be recognised in Thailand.

Think of it from the Thai immigration perspective. It is a good question though.

It may be easier for you to have the required money transferred to your personal account. You can then use the bank statement from that. I'm not sure about the UK, but Australia does not require you to have had the money sat in an account for 3 months like other countries. They just want to see the funds available. Maybe the UK is the same ?
