Hello everyone,

I am self employed in Germany and have a "company registration" (Gewerbeschein). As far as i understood everything, i should be eligible to apply for a DTV. Does anyone know if it might be possible for me to hire my partner on a small income (450€ Minijob) to make her also eligible to apply for a DTV?

Thank you in advance :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is self-employed in Germany and is considering hiring their partner on a small income (450€ Minijob) to make her eligible for a DTV visa in Thailand. Comments indicate this is possible, but the partner must have a bank statement showing 500,000 baht to support the application. It’s also noted that if they are not legally married, a contract and employment certificate specifying that the partner can work remotely in Thailand would suffice.

You said partner, so I imagine it's not a legal marriage. Regardless, yes you can employ them and create a contract and employment certificate stating that they can work remotely specifically in Thailand. They will need 500k baht in a bank account in their name.

You just apply her through DTV soft power, unemployed. Just need a 6 months bank statement of

0 baht. Easier & no risk
