Will staying beyond my 90-day extension affect my Non-O retirement visa when I return to Thailand?

I have a non O retirement visa (May 2022 to May 2023) and I am headed home in early November to visit family. My current 90 extension expires January 2, 2023. My question is if I stay beyond that extension date will it have a negative effect on my visa status if I were to return say March 1, 2023. Thank you in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the potential effects on their Non-O retirement visa status due to overstepping their 90-day extension while away from Thailand. The community clarifies that the 90-day reporting obligation is separate from the visa itself. It is emphasized that as long as the user acquires a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand, they should not face issues upon their return. However, they must ensure they are present in Thailand before their visa expiration next May for further extensions.

Are you on a multiple entry Non O that you got in May 2022 or are you on an Extension of Stay from May 2022 based on an earlier single entry Non O?

The answer you want depends on your situation

Extension of stay from May. I have only done single entry so far.

in that case you can leave and re-enter as many times as you want up to next May as long as you get a re-entry permit from Immigration before you leave. You can get a Single or a Multiple depending on your plans. You need to make sure you are in Thailand next May for the next annual extension.

FYI the 90 day visits to immigration have nothing to do with your visa or staying in the country. It’s just a requirement for all foreigners to report their address to immigration every 90 days, even if they haven’t changed address.

When you leave the country the 90 days re-sets so you’ll have to report 3 months after your arrival.

You should also report within 24 hours of getting back to Thailand (though some immigration offices tell you it’s not needed)

Don't forget to get a re entry permit from immigration 1000 baht

If you don't your visa will be cancelled when you try to get back in

Is the re entry permit helpful if someone returns after their visa has expired?

No problem

When you return they will stamp you a new date

If near the time of the year end of your visa it will be until that date

thank you. Some people have a problem with a simple answer. It’s a power thing I think 😅

Your question doesn't make any sense.

Are you talking about the 90 day report that you have to make every 90 days you're inside Thailand? That has nothing to do with your extension or permission to stay in Thailand.

no idea why the OP interpreted your simple clarification request so negatively that he would call you a dick. Your question seems absolutely normally phrased to me and completely reasonable.

I'm not. I can't answer your question because I don't understand it. You're saying things that make no sense.

don’t worry I got my answer from another member. I guess she understood my question. 😂😂😂

an answer to how they interpreted the question isn't necessarily a right answer. One wrong word in a question can completely change what the question is asking or what the answer is when it comes to something like immigration. Your question could've meant at least 5 different things.
